Garden and Museum

We spent a good part of the day at the Chih Shan Garden and the National Palace Museum. The garden was beautiful and we spent some time feeding the koi fish. We then walked next door to the National Palace Museum, which holds an impressive array of asian artifacts dating back up to 5000 years ago.

Kaylee fell asleep shortly after our arrival and we borrowed a stroller from the museum. She had her first stroller ride, which she enjoyed until the second she woke up. Then she wanted nothing to do with it. She did great and we got to see most of the exhibits. No cameras allowed - so this is the extent of our visit that we could record.

We were hungry for some lunch and asked one of the taxi drivers outside the museum for a recommendation. In her broken English, we could decipher something about a place by the 7-11. We crossed the street and saw several very authentic looking shanty-type restaurants. The owner spoke no English so I managed to request the chef's choice from an array of meats and all types of side dishes. I had chicken and Troy had pork, complete with several vegetable sides, rice and a coke for a total bill of 190 New Taiwan dollars, which is about 6 bucks. Kaylee was fussing, so I was trying to stand and eat (her teeth have been bothering her - 2 coming in), which is no easy feat with chopsticks. She took pity on me and held Kaylee while I ate. So an inexpensive dinner became even better as it included a babysitter.
