Next Steps

Many of you have asked "so what does that mean now?" regarding our referral. Now that we have accepted, our adoption agency will fedex our contract and Power of Attorney papers (so an attorney can act on our behalf in Taiwan) to us. We will have them notarized and then take them to the Taiwan Embassy (TECO) in Miami.

We will take them for translation, spend the night with Erik & Kelly and hopefully pick them up the next day. We're hoping we can take care of this next week. Then our papers are sent to the orphanage and we will officially enter the court system.

The court process itself has several steps. The hearing, 1st ruling and final ruling and then we get our travel call to pick-up Miss Kaylee. The courts have been running pretty quickly over the summer - 1 to 2 months, but on average they take 4-6 months. Please pray that we do not get assigned the SLOW judge who has been taking 6 months and longer. During this time, we will probably receive no word on where we are in the process, so the wait will be very difficult.

During our wait in the court process, we should receive monthly update photos and possibly video of Kaylee. We can also begin sending "shoebox sized" care packages for her.

We are overjoyed to officially have found our daughter and cannot wait to be able to pinch & kiss those cheeks in person.
