We had our fingerprinting appointment this morning at the Jax CIS office . We started off by talking with a not-so-friendly Homeland Security Officer barring the door. Before we were allowed through security Troy had to promptly return to the car with half the contents of my purse (cell phone, USB card, PDA, gum) and water bottle. They don't allow any electronics or food or beverages of any sort. After showing our passports and appointment letters we were allowed to enter the building and go through security.
After clearing security, we were given a number and curtly told to follow the instructions on the yellow page on the wall. We each had to complete a form and place it, along with our appointment letter, in a wire basket. I'm glad we got there early for there were about 60 people there when we arrived and it quickly doubled. It was hard to follow who was being called, because it started to get noisy and they weren't calling the numbers sequentially. One poor guy was in the bathroom when they called his number and the supervisor said to move on to the next one.
I was called before Troy. The employees actually doing the fingerprints were very nice. They do them digitally now, so no more black ink. I told her this was the last thing standing in the way of getting our form approving us to adopt and needed a good set. I had several "possible match" warnings and was beginning to think my fingerprints must match someone on the FBI's Most Wanted List. I asked her if it was a bad thing and she said no. She did end up doing 3-4 prints of each finger, so hopefully they took ok.
She said we'd get a notice in the mail if they didn't take. I also asked the supervisor how long it would take for approval, as I had called the main office and they said Jax was just working on February applications. She initially said she couldn't say, but then said it wouldn't take long.
Troy's fingerprinting went much more quickly. Boy it's hard not to get sweaty palms knowing so much attention is being placed on your hands. I felt sorry for the people there trying to get green cards who could barely speak English. You really need someone to help you through that process. It was scary for me and I was born here.
Please pray that both of our prints took and we get our approval soon.

Wow they must have been busy today. There weren't that many people there when we went. The whole "match"warning thing happened to me too, but when I asked the lady what it meant she said she didn't know, but that it was okay (?). Anyhow Im sure that everything will be okay. It took about 4 weeks for us to get the first response.
